No more Dings

Has anyone put any door trim on each side of the car to prevent people from dinging your car when they open their car door? If so, how did you neutralize this potential problem?

Not fully understanding your question but to avoid door dings I park my car on the edge parking spaces so there's no one parked next to me on one side. And on that one side I'm as closes to the line/curb possible. Sometimes it takes a while to find parking but it's worth it.

Yep, 90% prevention is selective parking techniques and the rest is unavoidable idiots.

You gentlemen understand the question. I was wondering besides parking to the rear of the parking lots, is there some type of trim which enhances the look of the mini and prevents dings when another car door opens up and hits your mini.

+1.

Other than some type of vinyl side stripe which provides virtually no protection from a door ding, I've never seen a non-OEM side bumper that looks anything other than terrible. A few car makers (Honda) have a color matched OEM molding that fits within the side contours of the car. Even when they look ok, somehow they're never at the correct height to actually stop a door or wayward shopping cart!

I think I would like the dings rather than those black ugly bumpers. You talk about dorky looking.

unfortunately dings are not specifically regionalized to the center mid section of our doors...

I have had them up as high as being in line with the side view mirror base....( 4x4 trucks, and E350 size vans I would suspect )

As previously stated, just parking in "timbuktu" is best solution 90% of the time....

When I had my clear bra put on, I had the guy wrap the door edges as well.

I also had my door edges done when I had my clear bra installed 3 years ago (freebee due to some excess material). My door edges still look fine, but I don't think the OP was worried about the edge of his door, but rather the middle!

To protect your door edge from the body panels of the other cars you're dinging?

And don't forget to park on the high side of grocery store parking lots. Abandoned carts run downhill.

yeah, dont think any trims will protect against an SUV that has a kid in the backseat that throws the door open as hard as he can. I HATE those pointy door corners that are right at the level 3" below the MINI windows....best defense is park as far away from everyone else as you can. The one time I couldnt, I got a door ding on my club door. GGrrrrrrr
