Hi All!
So Geico offers Mechanical Breakdown Insurance as long as your car is under 15 months old and 15K miles.
According to Geico, as long as it can be shown to be a mechanical or electrical failure (not caused by outside influences) they will cover less the $250 deductible. Any shop can perform the repair.
Of course, it will be written as a boiler plate policy; but I'm wondering if anyone here has it or used it? It is a whopping $7 per month so its not an outrageous sum of money. My two areas of concern are the clutch and the pano roof which will be covered as long as there is "proof of mechanical failure".
Thanks

At 2K miles / month, I'm out of factory in about 2 years.
Didn't know if anyone here had experience in dealing with them. $7 / month is cheap insurance but not if it is a hassle.
Now that I've really done the math, its about $301 for 50K miles worth of coverage as in 4 years I'll hit 100K anyway.

I haven't found any bad reviews of it. However, I doubt a clutch is going to be covered as something other than wear and tear.
Except for sticking in hot temps, pano roof issues tend to be rare.
Still, if you think you need some coverage to 100k miles, it certainly sounds like it is a much better deal than the typical extended warranty coverage.

I used it in the past, it is not a hassle, my Mini dealer was familiar with it and they did all the work, you need to get pre approved for the job per incident and it reduced a $2500 bill to $750 for 3 incidents. Only thing is that it takes a bit more time to get your car back, instead of a same day job it took a couple of days but for the money it was worth it. I don't think it will cover a clutch replacement unless it's a failure.
