Gpop shop experience
Gpop shop experience
I recently have been doing some mods to my 2008 R56. One was rebuilding/upgrading the turbo.I did my own work to it like ceramic coatings and sent it to GPOP. When they received it,it was inspected and they called to let me know the cost. They then wanted a credit card number. No problem , i had to do a few things with bank accounts and had to called them back. Im currently out of work for a couple more weeks and explained this to them and they were more than accomedating with starting the work before i gave them a card number. This would enable me to get the car back running in time so i could have a car to get too work when its time to go back. My opinion of this shops work ethics is EXCELLANT !! They take time to make sure you understand what was wrong with your old turbo, explain the repairs and let you know how long it'll take. They're honest, friendly and conduct business the way it should be conducted. They do it in a manner the old way, the way that made this country what it used to be from a business stand point. The way the RMW should do business. they call back. They answer emails. They dont take your money and leave you on your own. I would recommend GPOP SHOP for your turbo upgrades and repairs. HATS OFF TO THEM !!! very class act business.

Great to know, I appreciate you letting us know of your good experience. I too have a 2008 MCS. My mileage is app. 67k miles. Did GPOP find anything wrong with your turbo, and if so, what were they? Also, how many miles do you have on your MINI? Just curious so I can keep my eyes open for these problems too.
Thanks and HAPPY JULY 4!

2008 161,00 miles. upgraded turbo to a KO4. The turbo and the compressor wheel slightly rubbed at some point. The turbine wheel had one slightly bent blade. The waste gate was so loose that they have to weld it up then re-drill the holes to tighten it up again. The waste gate issue is a design flaw because it is vacuum actuated. Gpop said it is normal to be that way. It lets boost leak when they get that worn.

SPRINTCARS, thanks for the reply and advice!
No, I haven't had it walnut shell cleaned yet. I do have some low end lag that may be attributed to carbon buildup. I want to do it myself, hopefully in the next few weeks. I do have an air compressor, I just need the tools. There is a good do it yourself post here on NAM that I intend to follow.
I have had a BSH oil catch can installed since about 18k miles. That may have helped out too.
Again, thanks for your info.
