What did I see?

I saw a MCS convertible today in a parking lot. When I looked inside it had the smaller speedometer in the center and two round instrument clusters behind the steering wheel. I'm new to Mini, but isn't that the 2014 dashboard?

You sure you didn't see a First Gen MINI ? The convertibles were produced thru 2008, I believe.

They had an option "Chrono Package". It put gauges where the speedometer is normally seen.. temp, oil, gas. And it put the speedometer on a smaller guage next to the tach, behind the steering wheel.

As I understand it, the 2014s are not going to have a center mounted speedo, the radio/nav/connect will go there. And you won't see a 2014 in the States until early next year.

Chrono pack is what I would say too. Now verts also have a small gauge to the left of the tack called an openometer. measures the amount of time you spend motoring topless.

There will be no 2014 cabrios with the new dash. The ONLY 2014 model to be completely different will be the F56 (hardtop). All other models will remain the same, with minor changes. You saw a first generation (2005-2006) cabrio with the Chrono Pack. It had fuel, oil temp, oil pressure, and coolant temp gauges in the round center position. The speedometer and tach were on the steering column.

Correct except the the years the convertible was still first gen. They didn't switch over in 2007 like the hardtops did. They stayed on the first gen platform at least thru 2007, maybe 2008, IIRC.

Thanks for the info. What I saw must have been the Chrono Pack. It appeared that both of the instruments behind the steering wheel were the same size, ie, diameter.
