Hi folks,

we just ordered a 2013 CM JCW Edition. I am a little concerned about the motor with it running pretty high boost, and the resulting resiliance of the motor.

Does anyone know if the cost for an extended warranty is pretty much the same from a dealer whether you purchase it with the vehicle or wait until the standard warranty is about to run out?

Obviously, I would like to wait and see what kind of warranty work we require, and then decide 3 years or so down the road whether or not to extend it.

Your dealer should actually be able to give you the costs on both. Just have them quote you a warranty on an 09 with 50K miles. It should give you some idea of the cost. If it were me and I was getting it I would get it now and get it worked into the financing. That way you have it and the peace of mind that comes with it and if you decide to sell or trade it in it's a plus.

My wifes 07 never needed ANY work till the warranty expired. Keep in mind if you ever need a new turbo the dealer gets about 2K for JUST the part.

 

If I remember correctly - some of the things that are covered under the factory warranty are not covered under the extended warranty. I read on here that someones's timing chain was not covered under the extended warranty for example. I chose not to get it and put the money away in case I needed repairs - so far my money is still in the bank.
