Ordering a '13

How late are most dealers still taking orders? What's the wait time right now from order till driveway?

TIA,
Tony

What model? Most take from what I have seen in 6 weeks or less.

I placed an order last Friday (R56 Bayswater) and expected delivery is end of July. I didn't get my VIN yet though, so I suppose it could be quicker than that.

BTW, I was told by a dealership that changes are coming to the dash for July-built MINIs onwards, i.e. the dash would be the same as the one featured in the 2014 redesigned MINI. No clue if that applies to the Clubman, but personally, I'm glad I placed my order before that change is in effect!

Well I just hope they don't do any changes till the 2014 models come out!! One of the main reasons I ordered mine already was that I liked the big speedo.. I would be shocked to see any changes though till the 2014 models are actually released...lol

Same here. One of the reasons I'm ordering in a couple weeks and not next Spring as I had planned is the changes to the dash and loss of the giant speedo. If I still end up with the new dash design, I will be super pissed. But hard to believe they would fit the new dash in the R56s.

I agree I would think fitting the new dash into the 2013s would be a great pain for them at this point.. Im with yah!! ha ha.. I just dig that big speedo..and really the whole dash layout in the 2013s I like just the way it is..

Didn't mean to create a panic! Just mentioning what one out of town dealer told me, which was also confirmed to be a "possibility" by my local dealer. So two dealerships were aware of this "po-ten-tial" change to the dash for 2013 R56s. But if your orders are in, you should be golden anyway!

Good idea! Remember, what I was told was for July-built MINIs onwards... And for 2013 model, not the redesigned 2014.

Caveat, it appears that the 2014 model would be available this fall in Canada (based on an email I received from a Canadian dealership), which differs from the US planned launch date of March 2014... This could potentially explain the reasoning behind integrating the change in the dash sooner in my part of the world? Who truly knows!

Europe will be getting the F56 this fall/winter which is only a few months away. So IMO I highly doubt they will install the new dash in the 2013 R56. There are too many dimensional changes to install the F56 dash in a R56 MINI. IMO I would not panic. MINI will be shutting down real soon to change over tooling for the new F56 and that's why new orders won't be possible. So I am thinking your dealer/s are wrong. But I guess we shall see real soon.

Yeah, I have to agree. Europe and Canada getting the F56 sooner is probably the reason for the confusion.

Just want to be sure to get my order in before the switch over to the F56. But trying to order as late as I can because I have a teenager who is taking his driving test in August in the vehicle I'll be selling when my new MINI arrives. Darn teenagers, always complicating things.

I agree with you. Wouldn't make sense, but hey... lots of things that don't make sense to me are still true!

Oh yes they do. I vividly remember complicating my parents' lives!

IMO stop waiting and get ordering before you have nothing but regrets.

Going to order on the 15th. That's the first chance I have of getting to the dealership. After speaking to them on the phone, I feel confident I'll get in before the R56's are cut off. And in the meantime, having fun on the configurator with "building" my next toy. I have built over 150 and still working on my options.

When I picked up my car earlier this week, the final invoice I was given had "EOP July production" for several of the option line items I ordered, including DTC, colour line carbon black, and the premium package. So if they're telling dealers now that after July that's it for the R56 as we've known it, it sounds as though you should be good with a mid-June order.

I'm thinking either the R56 is toast after July, or they'll build out a run of MY2014 R56 cars with a limited option list just to tide things over until the F56 can ramp up for the rest of the world. Either way, even though it's a little long in the tooth, the R56 still does it for me so I'm glad to have gotten in on the last couple of months of the last year of production.

Thanks for the affirmation and for the good senses of humor. :-)

Apologies to the OP for some thread hijacking. Consider it free bumps to the top of the page. ;-)

That configurator must see a looot of repeat visitors (myself included)! I played with it for a few weeks, before concluding that the Bayswater was the best value for money configuration for me - even though I would've preferred the JCW wheels, maybe more color options... And now, after puling the trigger on an Eclipse Grey/Black BW, I'm second guessing myself all over again! Will the color combo be too dark for my liking, do I like the stripes or not... In the end, once I see it, I'm sure I'll be more than pleased! It's all part of the process I guess - or for some of us at least! Follow your instincts!
