Getting a new Mini, going the used route...

So I'm in the market for a new Mini and I've got a used car that in set on. It's a 2012 with about 7000 miles and was the same owner. Still, I had a couple of questions before I start the proceeds:

1. Carchex. So assuming the carfax checks out, and its at a used dealership that specializes in Mercedes, should I bother with a carchex mechanic checking it out? Also, it's obviously under warranty since its a 2012. So just wondering if I should bother. Obviously it wouldn't hurt, but...

2. It's out of state, so what costs should I expect to incur when bringing it back home

Always check it out. Just because it is less than 4 years old does not mean it is still under warranty. It could be a salvage title or a buy-back sold without warranty.

My credit union will pull the report for free. Check with your bank or credit union.

I shipped a Jaguar from Florida to Texas about a year or so ago and paid $1500. But I wanted it shipped in an enclosed solo trailer.

Always do a pre-purchase on a new car at an independent shop of your choosing. Even if it's within the OEM warranty. Period.

Like YZZX mentioned, warranty may have been voided.
Even if it is in force, the car may have been in a serious accident and not properly repaired. Warranty wont do you much good in that case.

No additional costs to buying out of state vs. in-state (unless you live in Hawaii, etc).
