Dealer prep fee?
Depends on the dealer...
When i bought my 2005 new, there was no added fees....NONE.
Like my sales person said, McDonolds doesn't add a cooking or prep surcharge to a burger, why should we?!

Adding "Dealer prep" used to be standard years ago. I haven't seen it in a long time. It's just a BS charge to pad the dealers profit. I would simply refuse to pay it.
As for the discount . . . it depends on the dealer and the desirability of the car. A car that is rare or special, might warrant a lesser discount, while a more ordinary model purchased "Off the lot", might command a greater discount. I purchased my Highgate for $1000 less than sticker. IMHO, you should never have to pay sticker price for any car.
