Hey everyone I just picked up an electric blue 2002 mini cooper s with 120k miles. It has the 100k maintenance and it runs great for the most part. Today driving home I noticed when i step on the gas I get a screeching noise.
here is a video:
Do you have a cold air intake on it too? Sounds normal in the sense it is your supercharger. With a CAI then tend to be louder then with a closed airbox.
No cold air intake, im actually due for a new filter.. but I feel like this sound isnt normal. it sounds like a slipping belt
Hm....sounds like you post the vid for nothing if you know the issue...car has ONLY 1 belt....
The stock belt or jcw belt is ok when new with a pulley, but begins to slip as it stretches...so a new shorter belt is usually used....good for about 2 years with a 15% pulley. Try a 535 length belt....most common one with a 15%.
Posted the video for good measure. I wasnt aware there was only one belt though. I was told the pulley was installed pretty recent (less than 15k miles ago).
