iPhone 5 placement
iPhone 5 placement
I have a 2011 Countryman, but I think this question is appropriate for this section of the forum
Where and how have you mounted a suitable iPhone holder in the car? The center rail cannot be used because of the hand brake. There is no where on the dash with a flat enough surface. The only place that I can figure is on the windshield, but then the charging cable can interfere with stuff. Also, the Mini Connected cable that plugs in behind the joy stick isn't long enough.
So, how about some well thought out fixes? Please and thank you.

Since I rarely use my CD player, I use this:
It keeps my phone roughly in the same area as the stereo, so it's both visible and easy to access and there aren't cords going everywhere.

Thanks.
I went with the Mountek CD player model based upon the above recommendation. As luck would have it, a buyer feedback dated today rated it 5 stars for his Mini. Wow, perfect. Just bought. Thanks. If you navigate to the Amazon site there are numerous pictures of how it looks, Mini included.

I purchased the Mountek a couple weeks ago and, while not perfect, it seems like the best option. Perfect placement for touch interface on road. Only minor complaint is that it is hard to see heater controls, though not a biggie for me. I did get a cord holder to make cord less intrusive a instead of just hanging straight down.

My mount was received a day early. It was a quick install and fits solidly into the CD slot. I slid it over to the right to allow easier access to the center volume on/off ****. I needed to buy an 18" 30-pin to 30-pin female to male cable extender from Frys that easily reached from the Mini Connected plug. I used the Apple 30 pin to Firewire adapter. All in all, it works as I hoped.
