MINI Cooper+ GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition= Great Video!

Avideo I took this morning/afternoon with the GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition in various angles with my 2004 MINI Cooper. The angles include the bottom of the sunroof, the hood, and the driver's side window. Please watch and subscribe!

Cool. How did you mount the camera for the three different POVs?

I used the suction cup mount and placed in on the bottom of the sunroof (then rotated the video since the camera was upside down), the drivers side rear window (suction cup) and kind of offset center on the hood because there is a small hump on the hood that wouldn't let it stay on perfect.

Thanks. I just picked up a GoPro Hero 3 so I'm itching to slap it on my Mini. I ordered a tow hook adapter from CravenSpeed so once that arrives I plan on installing it and taking a drive just to see how the video looks from the front bumper POV.

Congrats! I would also definitely recommend getting the suction cup mount as it is very versatile and can place it almost anywhere on the MINI! And thanks for the comment!

It is edited LOL
And it isn't inHD because iMovie '09 only allows 720p which is technically "HD" but it takes a super long time to upload, and I was kinda pressed for time.

sorry, didnt mean to come off like that i ment why didnt you put it in HD. that stinks. if you send me the footage i can do a better edit for you in 1080p 60fps or the 120fps 720 w/e you shot it in. I built my macbook for video editing :-D I wish i had long flat straight roads like that for running.

I'm sorry if my response came off as upset in any way. But I can do super slow motion with GoPro cineform but it is time consuming. For my '1000 view' video, I will take a lot of time editing the video, and have already started. It is definitely my best video so far so please stay tuned!

Here's a video taken with the Hero 2 this past summer from the front tow hook mount. On a twisty road, no less.

*I'm not sure why this is showing up twice...*

nice videos ballsy and albie!!!

By the way, hows the gopro hero3 holding up? I've been hesitant to pick one up since I've noticed a lot of really bad reviews of the unit freezing up, crashing, or not booting up properly.

my gopro3 freezes on occasionally when starting up, and you need to remove the battery and place it back in. GoPro has insured me it is a firmware issue and claim they are fixing it. Last time I sent them a camera for warranty it took 4 months to get back so I will deal with my issues until firmware is released

What was on your right wrist?
And what kind of suction cup is this that you trust it to hold down an expensive camera to the outside of your moving MINI?

Pretty good actually. The camera has sometimes "froze" or "crashed" but no permanent damaged has happened. I just take out the battery and put it back in and all is good. I love the camera! The thing on my wrist was my homemade "watch" strap for my wifi remote so I could start and stop the video without having to waste time and footage. And I use the GoPro branded suction cup mount. No matter what people say, if you clean both surfaces of the cup and car, put a little saliva on the cup,(I know, gross, but it really helps!) that thing isn't coming off! I trust this cup with the $400 camera EASY!

My Hero 2 has the same glitch problems - especially with the iPhone app since once it picks up another Wi-fi network, it jumps to it. My wrist remote has been pretty solid.

If you get word of that firmware update, could you let us know? Or is it easy enough to go on their site?

Just reached 1000 views! My video is in the making and will try to have it out by this weekend. I also got my stripes and oil/ filter in the mail, so I will definitely make videos of the oil change and stripe installation. Thanks!

Here's one I threw together in iMovie, I mount it to the top of the windshield with the suction cup.
