My First Mini?

Hello all, I just joined the forum because my first car is a 2004 Mini Cooper. I really love Mini's and have finally found one with just the right price. With that being said, I have a small problem. The mini is yellow (nothing wrong with this) with aftermarket black rims (don't know the brand or size). The mirrors and roof on the other hand are white. I don't think this is a big deal because it will have stripes (the previous owner had pics but then removed them) and I thought it looked just fine then. I was tossing around the idea of making it all black and yellow (yeah, ahah you know what it is ). I was thinking about either vinyl wrapping the roof and plasti dipping the mirrors, but haven't found anywhere that has cheaper vinyl. I realize you get what you pay for, but would plasti dipping the roof be absolutely God awful? I have heard that it will be splotchy and uneven, but will it be the same since this Mini has a sun roof and there will be less surface area? So if you have any feedback about the plasti dip or anywhere where I could score some cheapish vinyl that would be awesome! Thanks for your time!

Congrats on your Mini. I recognize what you bought with no problem. It is a "2004" Mini........

Plast Dip can be done but there is Plasti Dip in bulk size that would apply it more evenly than a rattle can.

People have Plasti Dipped the whole car and there is a website for that application.

Good luck.

I have messed around with plasti dip before its not too hard to get an even coat as long as u take your time. The fact that its so cheap and removable is Great !! The only thing i didnt like was the texture really it seems like it would b hard to wash you have to be gental when washing it. It aslo will have matte finish unless u put gloss on it. For mirror caps id say go for it but as for the whole roof id go vinyl. U could check online for it 3m vinyl i heard is good good luck

Thanks! Do you think I would have to remove the roof to put this on correctly?

No the vinyl you put on and cut as you go i would personaly try to find a shop that will do the roof for u so you never have to mess with it again and it will look perfect. It really shouldnt b expensive at all for just the roof. If your doing the plasti dip u can look at www.Dipyourcar.com they have the kits you need. Just know that you should mask off the areas where theres going to be overspray plasti dip is suuuuchhhh a pain to remove. but for the price and effort of the dip the vinyl wouldnt be much more oh and congrats on the mini.

This is applied with a spray gun and compressor. It is inexpensive to do relative to vinyl. I have Plasti-Dipped parts of my car in the past. I think it looks inexpensive also. I'd rather vinyl wrap my car.
