flood light covers

Hi. I own a 2007 mini cooper. I have the two flood lights and I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can buy leather covers for these instead of the cheap plastic ones that the Mini dealers sell? I can only find leather covers for the large lights used on rollbars for offroading. Anyone?

Do you know the brand of the driving lights? Aftermarket or dealer installed?

driving lights

The flood lights were either dealer installed or factory installed as the bulb definitely has the Mini logo etched in it. They are 5 1/2 inches across. I'd be happy with either leather or cloth. Anything but those cheap plastic covers.

They're called driving lights, not flood lights

I've got flood lights over my garage that have a motion sensor that turns them on.

OP - you might try some of the off road truck stores.

Edit: Why not just leave the covers off - that's my my wife does with her MINI? She likes the look with them off and, she can turn the lights on without having to stop and take the covers off.

Also, just because the driving light covers are plastic, doesn't mean that they're of poor quality. When I had the lights on my MCS, 1 set of covers lasted me 3+ years, 48,000 miles, and 2 cross country trips... I'd be shocked if leather or cloth covers lasted nearly that long...

I've gone thru two sets in five years. The tab keeps breaking off. I don't drive the car much. Less then 3,000 miles a year but a lot of it at night. The 4-wheel stores seem to only carry the covers for the larger lights and Mini has no intentions of carrying the soft-covers.

If it means that much to you, go to a leather fabricator and see what they would charge. I've had stuff made and repaired and it wasn't all that expensive.

I would have never thought of having them hand-made. Thanks for the suggestion. Will have it done. As for Melangell - the plastic light covers look CHEAP but are way overpriced. The tab is pretty much useless for pulling the cover off as it breaks too easily. The white covers look even worse and in my opinion, look gay. It's like a guy wearing white shoes. Ugh. Leather covers have class and if done right, with color to match my car, will look great.

Let us know how much it ended up costing you for your covers - and post up a picture. Good Luck!
