Two weeks ago I noticed my 2007 R56 had no heat unless I was at highway speeds. I checked coolant and it was low. Bought 50-50 mix. filled to just over max level and had heat. Four days later noticed the same thing. Checked coolant and again low, filled and heat again. No leaks detected. I'm now filling this every other day. Anybody have idea? I don't want to turn this over to the dealer because of the $$$$$.

 

If you are in mass, try Greasysgarage out in worchester....he can do wonders with mini's....for about half the rate the dealer charges perhour....about half the cars plus are mini's at the shop...heck i usually drive an hour from nh to go there, and they have always done great work.
You can look more closely for the leak...but it sounds like you need a second set of eyes, and maybe help getting it fixed!! Good luck!

 

There are two problem areas that are well known with the R56 Mini. The thermostat leaks frequently and which I replaced last week at 60k miles. There are many others who have replaced their water pumps.

I did not see any leaking on the ground when my thermostat began leaking, but it was visible when looking at the driver's side of the motor where it was leaking down onto the front axle.

Thanks for the information and the heads up on the garage located in Worchester. Purchased the thermostat today and having a local garage install tomorrow.
