Anyone trade mini for another mini over carbon buildup?
I have a 2008 Mini Cooper Clubman S. Have major carbon problem. Called around town - no one knew what a walnut shell service was. One guy looked it up to tell me that I had to go to a dealer. Anyone trade their mini for another mini after this? I've looked at other cars. I don't like any of them.
The walnut shell blasting service will become more and more common as time goes on--and the price will come down. We are charging $349 for the work, which is less than half our local dealerships. Selling a car and buying a new one to avoid this costs is not going to end up paying for itself. Imagine that, in the life of your MINI, you'll have to do the service twice. That's less than the tax you'll spend on the purchase of a new car.
Call around(mainly dealerships) but I know of only BMW and/or MINI dealerships around Milwaukee, WI that does it. Other brands don't seem to offer it. And even within the same area, there could be a world of price difference. For example, Milwaukee's MINI dealer does it for $395 whereas Patrick MINI(90 mins away?) charges $699.
