I went to let the dog out (it was me) and my '12 Mini has it's flashers on. They were not on when I get out of the car earlier, and both key fobs were on the kitchen bench, so not a panic alarm.

The car was not making any sound, just flashers.

When I went out to check I fit the fob and they went off...

Anyone have any idea what's up?

 

Theft alarm? I don't mean the optional alarm alarm, but your Mini has some features built in to deter theft. A similar thing happened to my wife. She accidentally locked the doors somehow with the key inside (I think the key actually hit the lock switch on the center stack). When the police tried to unlock it through the windowsill, the flashers went off and the car didn't unlock. Supposedly. I wasn't there and she was hysterical (kid was in the car).

 

Thanks. Not sure really. I have the optional alarm. I also live in top of a mountain in WV. I have a few neighbors but trust me when I say, "middle of nowhere"

Kind of freaked me out.
