He's on the road

Just an update and to bump the post up a bit.

N666BK is on the road. Should be in Ohio now.

We've corresponded and I have offered road and weather assistance to get him through my area (Western Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah) safely.

He has a REALLY COOL aeronautical navigation system he's using.

I just realized I need 14 more states and I will have been to every one. I have already hit the 2 hardest Hawaii and Alaska.

Woohoo what a ride! Thanks beedeejay for keeping in touch. PA and OH was like a war zone Intrerstate 80 was littered with cars and trucks off the road. Blizzard. MINI performed flawlessly.

What, no food pictures? Don't forget, the speed limit signs are not in Kts.

Drive safe, N666BK! I drove from VA to CA in January '05. Great fun until Kansas when the blizzard started!

Slightly OT, but where do you guys get those U.S. state map outlines to color in? (the ones appearing in your sigs)

Um, Yakima isn't on the coast- not even close. If you are coming this far why not just do the extra 300 miles or so and hit Seattle? Technically, that's not the coast either- I would suggest Ocean Shores (kind of a dump) or Westport, where I think you can drive your car on the beach because the sand is packed so hard there's no danger of sinking. I did it in my '84 Encore a long time ago so I don't remember which costal town I was in.

Keep posting pictures and let us know how things are going!

Val

Continuing with my "ground assist" tracking and advisory services

N666BK is almost through Wyoming and should be Salt Lake City early afternoon.

That was one cool ride. Almost at SLC.

The biggest truck stop in the world.

The ride through WY was challenging but I had plenty of info and warnings courtesy of beedeejay thanks again.

N666BK: In a couple of days you owe the readership a post travel report of lessons learned, what you might have done differently, moments of terror and interesting experiences

How's Tacoma?

I mean Yakima. I hope the trip is going well. Are you going to swing south on your return trip to fill in more states? It looks like you could pass thru CA, NV, CO, & KS without going too far out of the way. I drove about 500 extra miles o my way back from Alaska to knock out Nebraska, it was the last of the 49 drivable states on my list. There were not all in a Mini but I did drive VA to WA about 30 years ago in a 2 seat Jensen Healy with my 5 & 3 year old kids riding behind the front seats.

It's different here Joe. Different from NY for sure. I will be on the road tomorrow heading back and I am thinking of taking your advice to catch more states. See you on East Coast soon...

Sorry I missed this thread until today! So you're out traveling the country again. We met up with the crazy Russian in VA last year (I think) on his way to Florida. What a great MINI owner! He's absolutely a blast to hang out with. If anyone is on his route, try to make time to join him for a lunch or dinner stop. You'll laugh the whole time.

Drive safe my friend and we're looking forward to more pictures and write up when you're able.
