Bumper Repair

When we got EMM [Everlasting Mighty Mini] she had a badly cracked rear bumper.
Sorry no before pic.
The repair was as follows.
Heated "Joint Fasteners" with propane torch while holding with needle nose pliers.
Held broken pieces in place, insert heated fastener.
Cooled immediately with water spray [important].
Once all seams stitched had a oval hole to fill. Used fibreglass repair and finished with body filler.
Some fasteners did protrude on finish side, had to grind them flat.
Test fitted to make sure none of fasteners interfered.
More pics to follow once body filler dried, sanded and primed.

In all this repair will cost me $50 in materials and 4hrs labour.

Just a quick question, why fiberglass rather than urethane weld?
Won't fiberglass crack?

Fibreglass mesh used to cover oval hole, not all pieces of this jigsaw were present.
Plus bumber is ABS plastic, not sure how urethane would work.

The bumper before the rear ending.

Someone bumped me..the repair held up.
Once their insurance pays up I'll repair again and spend the check on a flag .
