Coolant
Coolant
(yes, I searched and didn't get my answer.. )
I have a coolant leak in my R56, waiting for a part to fix it which wont happen till 10 Dec so in the mean time I have to keep an eye on the coolant level which is def. going down, I bought Zerex G-05 but my service shop obviously put in Mini/BMW brand coolant, should I top it off with the Zerex G-05? or should I wait till tomorrow and go get bmw/mini brand coolant?
Side note, I can't find anywhere the mixing instructions for the Zerex G-05 help!

I'm 99% sure the zerex g05 is the same as mini branded coolant....just a different color.
Generally it is mixed 50-50 with distilled/de-mineralized water (not drinking water or bottled drinking water...this has ADDED minerals to IMPROVE TASTE).

thanks for the advise.PS: would it really hurt if I just use tap water?
for a short time and as just a top off you won't do any damage ... if you have not bought the a/f yet, you can get many brands as pre-mixed 50% solution and then no worries. I've used plain old Prestone for years on my MINIs and others I service (for free) with no issues.
You can usually find distilled water in the grocery store, esp' if your area has 'mineral rich' water. When I lived in central Indiana a glass of tap water from the city supply would come out cloudy and if you let it settle there'd be a layer of flakes in the bottom of the glass. We had to run 'lime away' thru the dishwasher once a month. Long b4 Brita filters!

Tap water should be ok...esp on the east coast where it usually is surface water as opposed to well water...less minerals. Not the best, but better than running low....besides...most garages probabbly use tap also.....
