Subtle whining noise on my 2012 Mini S coupe

Hey guys. So I bought my 2012 Mini Coupe S a few weeks ago, and noticed a faint whining sound. I'm familiar with a turbo spool sound, but this isn't it. It sounds like a faint "whirling/ whining" sound when I accelerate. My boss had a 2010 Mini S and had the same issue. He had his transmission replaced three times, then the car was lemoned.

Anyone experience this issue? Or know if Minis are notorious for this?

Do you have 6MT or Auto?

I only hear an electrical-type whining sound when the A/C is on and I press on the accelerator - I don't even have to be moving.

2012 MCS...Is the car still under warranty? If so, have it checked out at the dealer.

I have a slightly different whine or whiring sound

I have a 2004 MCS (love it by the way), I have been driving it all day. no issues, I stopped at the office on my way home and all was fine. Went back to my MCS and tried to start it and nothing, lights came on and all but it wouldnt start. I noticed a low pitched whining or whirring. When I tried to start it the whine/whirr dropped in tone a little. I got a jump and all was great - until i got home. I noticed that it was doing it again. I started it up and off, then waited a few minutes and tried again. same thing as before. This time however when I held the key past position 2 to start the lights flashed a couple of times. Tried it again the driver window went down about 1/2' or so at a time. The whining / whirring was back :(

I disconnected the battery and will lever it off an hour. Try it again. MAYBE this will reset something.

Any ideas?

Did you ever get this resolved? I'm curious as I'm getting the same sound on my 2010 mcs. I'm pretty sure it is a/c compressor. I'm taking mine to the dealer tomorrow, but was curious how yours was resolved.
