09 Clubman JCW or 11 MCS

Hello everyone. It's been a while since I visited the forum(sold my clubman a year ago so I've been absent). Anyways I'm now itching to get another mini as a secondary vehicle(other vehicle is larger/more practical). So I found 2 options. An 09 Clubman JCW with 25k miles for about 21-22k or an 11 MCS with 29k miles for about 19-20k. I'm leaning towards the JCW as I want it to be a fun vehicle(so max out the speed option) and it being a Clubman is a plus(though not necessary). But will the MCS will be more fun to drive(being smaller) and also in warranty?

I modified the previous Clubman quite a bit(intake, exhaust swap, coilovers) so I intend to do the same. Clubman is also being sold by a speed shop(vehicle has no track history though) so a very fruitful relationship could be born. Thoughts?

Go with the Clubman JCW :-)

There is a real difference between the JCW and the S. Also, as a former Clubman owner you are used to the extra back seat leg room and the added trunk space as well plus you familiar with the handling of the car. To me all this adds up to the Clubman.

I own an "S"...I'd go with the 09 JCW.

Had an R56S, have a 2012 Cooper Clubman. There's a really nice CR/B JCW Clubman on a lot near me, it's everything I can do not to stop and get it! Get the Clubman...

Both have pretty much the same specs(cold weather, sport and premium) although I'm not sure if they call it sport and premium on the JCW. Reading through the individual options though, they match up.

Thanks for all the replies guys. It seems the overwhelming opinion is the JCW. I was hoping it would be that since I'm pretty much in love with that vehicle If anyone else have any more opinions, keep them coming. If nothing changes, I'll be picking the vehicle up tomorrow or Monday. Whee!

The MCS looks way better than the CM IMHO but the CM definitely brings some practicality to the mix.

Can't go wrong with the JCW options or the newer engine.

That's a tough decision. I think the performance would be very similar. The clubman is not as edgy as the hardtop and the extra weight softens it up. I guess it comes down to preference. My clubman JCW gets better gas mileage than my hardtop JCW in normal driving and if you baby it. The Clubman definitely does not pull as hard or brake as hard or corner as hard. I would think you could overcome the small difference in engine performance with some inexpensive suspension mods on the MCS but then the price would be nearly identical. The clubman is way more practical if you are taking any passengers. Again that is a tough call.

update Ok I re-red your post and now know where you are coming from. If you are already thinking of modding it and you already have a larger car I would almost definitely go with the MCS and start modding. It is really easy to equal or surpass the power. Out of the box you will have a suspension advantage. Only the brakes will be compromised and it wont shift as smoothly.
