Engine origen

Was at the dealer today waiting for my 15k service to be done.

Noticed that some of the '12 models had engines made in Germany and France.
Did Mini just start having the motors made in Germany?

At a minimum the factory JCW engines have been made in Germany since at least 2009 and maybe earlier.

I am not sure if this has changed recently to include the Cooper S or Justa.

I thought the engine parts were Man'd in France, but assembled at the Hams Hall Plant in the UK.

My JCW Factory Sticker details the engine was made in Germany. The same sticker for our S denotes the engine was built in France. I believe the motor was co-designed by BMW and Peugeot.

It is a Peugeot engine so both France and Germany are correct.
