Squeaks, rattles and other noises
Mine makes all kinds of interior rattles and noises. Drives me absolutely insane. I spend my whole commute leaning over and pressing on panels trying to hunt them down. The worst part is that they are not consistent, there one day gone the next. So you may think you fixed it, then its back.
If interior quality is important to you, get something else.
My position is: This isn't 1982, MINI needs to get their @#$ together.

On the other hand, I have found that a lot of noise is caused by crap I have in the door sills and glove box. I had a harbor freight flashlight that kept making this annoying rattle in my glovebox. that thing had to go.
I have this same rattle Tigger. Mine rattles all around the map pocket and speaker grill. If i put my hand on it, it stops. I have taken it apart and the clips are all fine. Pretty sure its the interior panel rattling on the clips that are secured into the door frame. I guess I'm going to try some weather stripping or felt inside the panel.
I have an 08 Cooper S, and I have a lot of interior noises when going over bumps and such.. Coming from a pretty smooth midsize sedan at first it was nerve wracking because I thought it was something with the engine (not knowing it was the interior at the time) but now I just live with it lol its only ever annoying when going over hard bumps and hard road surfaces.
I have a "new to me" 2004 Mini Cooper S now with 83,000 miles on it. The only time I get any rattles are when it is below freezing until the car warms up. Once the heat has been running for awhile and the car is up to operating temperature the rattles subside. Guess I'm lucky.
My 2009 has a dull clanking sound coming from the rear end. I suspect an issue with the suspension.
I also had a metal on metal tapping sound coming from the back end whenever I drove on a rough road. The problem was with the hatch closure attachment. The protective plastic around the catch had broken off, exposing the metal, which created a metal to metal connection. I simply wrapped some duct tape around the fitting, which eliminated the irritating noise.

I nailed down the source of almost all of my interior squeaks... the seatbelt "accordion" rubbing against the side of the seat bottom. I tied a bandanna around it, and the car is Lexus-quiet now! (Almost.)
I had this:

Basically, GM engineering in the mid 90s (mine was a 2001, but the design and materials were identical to the 1997 model) had a contest to see who could produce the car with the most interior rattles, and that thing won. If the Mini does have any, I haven't noticed them. I did in a Clubman I test drove before we got ours though. Not sure what was up (probably aforementioned clips) but yeah, not in ours.

I've had my '06 for two+ years now, and have only two noise-related issues. If my passenger side window is all the way down, the passenger seat belt catches the wind and thump-thump-thumps against the inner fascia. Problem solved by raising the window ~ 4".
The only other sound I hear aside from the supercharger screaming is a soft occasional bump of the boot storage cover/lid moving in its housings. Other than that my MINI is tight.

That noise is extremely annoying! It only seems to happen when I wear a heavier jacket, and with it being winter it's been way noisier than normal. I tried to quiet it with some electrical tape and it only sorta worked. I'll be trying the bandana thing tonight. Other than that and my recently squeaky cup holder, my car's pretty silent. Not bad for a 7 year old MCS.
I had a noise like that in my Yaris. IIRC, it was a loose bolt at the top of the strut tower.
I'm...not entirely sure I'm using the right terminology. But Where the suspension was bolted to the body. That bit.

"MINI makes monsterous noise", 30k+ and this much noise, I'm disappointed, FJ Cruiser was just a little louder than my All4.
Driver Door- sounds like loose metal rattling around.
AC- sounds like previous cars defroster.
Rear seatbelts- rattle unless buckled.
Cargo area floor- removed to reduce rattle
RFT- replaced with non RFT
Brake Pedal- jutters makes springing door stop sound over bumps
+ Undetermined squeaks from all about.

I agree, but since I'm not willing to wait until the Roadster is eventually updated, I'm gonna be stuck with the R5X interior.
A lot of interior noise is temperature related,
When it's warm mine is very quiet, but get in it when it's around freezing and the dimensional tolerance of some of the plastic components must change a little, as they start to creek, rattle or moan, particular the down tubes.

2013 Clubman here. Less than 1000 miles on it. We just had a cold snap in MD where overnight temps were easily in the teens. While warming up the dash rattled very loud with creaks and pops when ever I hit a slight bump in the road as I drove to work. 15 minute commute so I dont think the car fully warms the interior. Was really bad. I will have to narrow it down but thought I'd try to add to the discussion. I figure the extreme cold combined with defroster blowing at the windsheild and dash are all contributors but would still like to figure it out and try to do something about it.

I have 4 rattles/creaks so far.
1) Far left and far right air vents.
This one is very sporadic. I can press on the silver trim ring, or the lower (black) housing and it stops.
2) Passenger speaker grill area.
This is the most annoying one since it does it daily. I can lightly press on the top of the grill and the noise disappears. It appears to be firmly attached to the door panel so nothing can be wedged under it. I have tried 1" felt strips wedged in the door panel in various areas which helps to an extent. Just when I think I got it it starts creaking again. If I press the area on the door panel above the grill then the whole area creaks. It almost sounds like crackling paper.
3) Passenger rear head rest.
I can raise it up a notch and the noise appears to go away temporarily.
4) Something in the boot.
I still need to figure this one out. It may be some of my bugout gear rattling around.
I'm starting to think that if I replace my Continental run flats with Pilot Super Sports it will smooth out the ride and minimize the noise issues.

I posted on another squeaks & rattles forum thread a few years ago, and at the time I had none to report. Over five years, my 08 Clubman has developed a few, mostly in the plastic fittings above my rear view mirror and something in.on the passenger seatbelt mechanism. I'm encouraged into thinking it may just be the buckle ringing on the door, so I'll slide it up the belt and see.
The overhead plastic makes a very plastic-y sound when pushed (not elegant) and no amount of pushing or holding seems to stop the 'creaking', especially when it's cold.
I'll bet someone has taken it all apart and used little foam bits mixed in to put it back
together.
