White plastic key with chip? Not part of normal remote

Well it came with the car(2013 Clubman), it has a micro chip in it but I don't see a holder to allow it to be inserted into the remote holder in the dash. Looks like a wallet key. Car does not have comfort access. Anyone know what this is for?
Thanks.

I think I've heard of Mercedes having a little wallet key they include that works with their comfort access. I wonder if BMW is doing the same thing but you said you don't have comfort access. Very strange, I'm subscribed, can't wait to find out what it is.

Maybe post a pic of it?

I didn't get a key like that with my Mini, nor is it mentioned in the owner's manual, but I did get one with my previous BMWs (two Z4s and a 3-series) so I suspect that's what it is. The BMW ones are black, though, and they're famous for breaking easily. It looked the same as the left-most one pictured here:

I have something like that but mine hides in my key and the one I have is for the driver side door.

Thanks for the photos Epb, mine is like the one on the left but white. The other keys in the photo are pre cas keys that went into a conventional ign switch. There is an inductive ring in the column that activates the chip in the key. However, my car of course has the in dash zas mechanism with cas that I would need a hollow holder to insert the little white plastic key into so they both could be stabbed into the dash holder (zas)
Gotta love those acyronyms huh? My white key won't start the car when held near the dash holder by itself, I tried. Love a good mystery!

I was wondering the same thing. I'm interested to hear a definitive answer.
