Fuel Filter Replacement Issues

Hey everyone,

I am new to this site and decided to join the forums after realizing I spend a lot of time "visiting" I have an '03 MCS which has been by far the most enjoyable DD I have ever owned. I have done one mod (15% Reduction pulley for the SC) and have had no issues until recently. I was about a mile from home and noticed slight sputter and an engine light. On spot I ordered a new fuel filter out of habbit of that being the first sign for most cars with this issue. I have removed and replaced the fuel filter to only have my MC not start. I removed the fuel line connections on all ends and made sure my Fuel pump was priming and working properly, which it is. My only last thought is either an obstruction in the line or an air lock. EVERYONE on this site seems more knowlegable then any place I've read up on for tips and hints. So any advice on this topic would put me back in a running MCS and one happy camper. Thank you ahead of time.

Read this:

Take note of this line in the 2nd to the last paragraph & redo your upper cover:
"Take care to make sure the upper cover is directly seated on the filter element. If it isn’t, the car won’t start."

When I replaced my fuel filter I had everything back together and it would not start. After checking everything I decided to crack the filter again. Sure enough the O ring on the inside had rolled itself back off of its proper seat. It did this in response to the way I rolled it onto its seat in the first place. Put it back on carefully so as not to roll or twist it and my car fired up at the first attempt.

Hope this helps.
