This is correct. With digital the signal is either on or off, this doesn't mean it's either super high quality or nothing, it just means that something comes out of the speakers or it doesn't.

You can still broadcast a poor quality audio signal through digital by using a low bitrate and low sample rate. This essentially compresses the audio making it smaller and when this happens the music sounds like you're listening to AM radio.

Pandora gives you an option of selecting a higher bitrate stream which takes longer to download (hence you may get more stutters) but sounds better, fuller, and more true to the recording.

Porthos, Are you doing this with a 1/8" stereo cable from the earphone of the Droid or with the custom Y split cable that Moto sells for the car mount? I'd like to give it a try and not sure what to get. Thanks!

dpcompt, I noticed that if I started up the Pandora first, before plugging it into the Y cable, I could use the steering wheel control to skip songs. But if I started it up after plugging it in, I couldn't. Give that a try. :-) It does require the Y cable, though, not just an aux cable.

Also, I do have the paid sub for Pandora One, which allows more skips per hour.

Although I have the Pandora app, now that I have the integrated MOG in MINI Connected I hardly ever use it. I guess that's partially a function of feeling like I need to exploit the fruits of the monthly MOG fee as much as I can. I didn't renew the complementary 1-yr Sirius subscription. In retrospect, for my own use habits I think paying for Sirius instead of MOG (along with the available Pandora, Stitcher, and the MINI Connected Internet radio) would be a better bet.

Using the iPhone-supplied USB cable only I get full functionality and album art with both MOG and Pandora. I've never had to rely on the Y-cable for anything.
