This thread is like your iPhone butt typing to Siri and opening up your phone to see a bunch of word-salad.

Now things are coming together!! Scatt, sorry if i came across as slamming ya, but it seemmed you were refering to the backend of the mini, then took a pic of the front...with so many NAM trolls thses days, it would have been par for the course!!

I was hoping someone spotted a Paceman when I read the title...

I know a number of military personnel that purchased a MINI while stationed in Europe and had it shipped home when their tour was up.

They had just started to issue those as I was leaving and I believe it was only Stuttgart and a few others that were using them when we left. Of course, it has been 4 years now...

Looks like it has expanded!

All that said, it is not a registration sticker, just an emissions sticker. We still have an Austrian sticker on our Subaru.

You must have the Austrian vignette road tax sticker, one of these?

Yep, that is it! The Mrs. said it would be a cold day in hell before I am allowed to remove it.

We have a little collection of them from different counties on our Honda from traveling around Europe. None on the Mini yet, but that should change next year.

Thanks to the few of you that didn't make snide remarks and actually answered my question. As the title of the thread states unusual look to me...i.e. the solid cowl in front of windshield and the center hump on the hood. And to answer one question NO I have not seen many 1st gen MINI's in my area. The ones I have seen I do not remember the hump that runs down the center of the hood.
I am glad that I could generate 33 replies from my ignorance, I will go bury my head in ground from the shame now.

Please don't get discouraged! There are so many 'you-ified' MINIs, so many different combinations of body type, trim, etc. that it is easy to see something as being unusual, especially if something strikes you suddenly that you never noticed before. They're just jerking your chain, don't mind them.

What struck me was that the grill, instead of being chrome, had a chrome surround and was body colored inside. And it does look out of the ordinary... so it just depends on what you have seen.

What can be a serious group of people who will really sit down and help you when you need it, can also be a group of smart alecks when there is nothing at stake but some jokes at some poster's expense. Laugh along with them, it makes no difference and everyone forgets it and moves on quickly.

I appreciated your post because I really looked at the car, after a year of owning a MINI I am still trying to sort it all out, so no doubt others did too. So much to notice, before it becomes easy knowledge!

+1
remember, since you cannot see facial expressions, it can be tough to tell when folks are serious, and when they are jerking your chain a bit, kinda like "joshing ya" or riding you a bit!! Heck i know of a mini with a few fiberglass panels replacing a couple of body panels with a few vents molded in. Looks very cool, but subtle....makes folks look twice...kinda tge oem+ look compared to the "tuner" look. Very classy.
many cars have some degree of custom work....some look like stock...the sleeper look...but all are still a mini!!
