Winter car care
Winter car care
Hello. Does anyone oil the underside of their car before winter? I have always done this to my other vehicles to help protect from salt. We don't have a car wash in 30 miles that would clean the underside of car. She is our only driver now. Thanks for your thoughts. Brian
Move to Florida, we don't have the need for salt.
When I did live in New England, I had a free standing garage that had no heat. Once a week I'd plug in a space heater to melt everything away.
Have you considered using Rhino-Liner on the underside exposed steel?

Rino lining is expensive and if the edges peel, it is a place for water, dirt and salt to work on the metal. I lined a jeep and had rust start to form under the lining. Oil can be washed off but it is messy and makes a pain to work on anything underneath the car. Good thought though. Besides, Florida is too hot and too many bugs. And I like cold weather and snow. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Chestnuts roasting on an open fire... I'm dreaming of a white Christmas..Etc.
Not better, different. The Fiat is a hardtop and is better on rainy days, shopping trips, etc. The R59 is an awesome driving car. I'm blessed to be able to have 2 cars and a Can Am. Some days the hardest choice I have is what I'll drive. Not a bad situation!
