07 Mini stalls when cold

Hello, I drive an 07 Mini. If the car is cold and I hit 300RPM the check engine light comes on. i can keep it from coming on by keeping it below 3k but it will die when I push the clutch or at idle. The car will start right back up and drives fine with no issues as long as I just drive...Took the car to a local Mini Dealer and they could not find an issue yet the car does this every day. Today the car had a big stall at around 2.5K while accelerating...Any ideas?

Do you have any way to pull the error codes? That's where I would start. If not you might look into buying a code puller to get an idea of what might be happening behind the scenes.

Here's something you might consider... buying a code reader. I have the Actron CP 9580

This model records live data such as fuel pressure, timing, etc., as well as graphs it! Another feature of this code reader is that it will show the "freeze frame"* data. If you do get a code reader, make sure it has the capability of showing "live data"!

Some have suggested the problem is the HPFP, and that is a good assumption if you have an "S" model. Here's a video showing you how live data can be used...

* Freeze frame data is a snapshot of the real-time sensor feeds at the instant of a DTC condition. An auto mechanic can use this data to figure out what was going on at the time your car's "check engine" light went on.This is a feature of the vehicle's OBDII computer.
