Adirondacks MINI Meet-up anyone?

Hey all! Since posting in the regional forums never makes it as a main topic, I thought I'd post here.

I'm going to be camping in the Adirondacks (Lake Durant, NY) next week so I thought a meet up at an ice cream shop in Blue Mountain Lake might be cool.

When: Aug 15, 2012 @ 5:00 p.m.
Where: Blue Canoe Ice Cream - Blue Mountain Lake NY

HERE is a link to the ice cream shop! Address included.

Anyone want to motor? It's beautiful country up there - it'll be a blast for me to revisit Rt. 28 in my MINI. The last time I was up there was traveling to college in a 1984 Ford Ranger 2WD. The thing was like a .6 litre.

That's not too far from where I live. Gotta work most of this week, tho.

Who's the other sleeping bag for? Your luggage? :D

One of my favorite areas. I have done a lot of camping at Raquette Lake in years past. You are sure to have fun. Can't make it (also working) but I can suggest one of the best rides through the southern Adirondacks. It is just a little out of your way but well worth it (better than Rt 28).
Take the Thruway to Amsterdam.
Take Rt 30 N to Vail Mills
At the round-about (I think there is a round-about there) go west on Rt 29
About 2 miles (plus minus a little), turn right on Rt 29A
Go through Gloversville (there is a little lack of Rt signs here, but follow it basically straight through).
After a nice ride on Rt 29A, it will join up with Rt 10 North, then Rt 10 will peel off to the right, stay on Rt 10 N

Rt 10 N is MINI heaven

Rt 10 N will take you to Rt 8, turn Right and go to Speculator
Turn left on Rt 30, head up to Indian Lake and left onto Rt 28
Lake Durant is about 10 miles on your left if I remember right.

Have a great trip

PS - If you are ever in Albany, stop at the Pump Station brew pub. The owner is one of our very good MINI club members. We meet there the 1st Tuesday of the month.

Is that to say that you also know about Rt 10?

Hope you pack a big green tarp and have a great trip

Wish you guys were here. Just had the best 'ADK Camp Coffee' ice cream! I'll post a little later on the driving routes - my daughter and I are trying to get ride on a sea plane in Long Lake!

Eddie07S - leaving Lake Durant now. Going to take your route in reverse! Thanks for the tip.

Fantastic call on Rt. 10. The northern end was bliss. I think I saw 3 cars. I had made the run from Lake Durant to Speculator yesterday - construction on Rt. 30 was a bit of a drag and it was no different today. But the entire route you outlined was one great ride today. Thanks!

Saw plenty of motor cycles up there. They like to rip it up a little, too. Both times I've been up to MOT in the White Mountains, bikers do the speed limit. Like 55 and no faster. Not what I found the last three days in the Adirondacks. At one point I was doing 70 up a hill passing a camper (two lanes to allow campers/trucks to hang in the right) and up comes a bike behind me. It was all I could do to get out of his way and he disappeared as fast as he showed up.

Nice picture.

I recognize those turns

Glad you liked the ride, and, had a good day for it

It is one of my favorite rides.

Hope the camping went well.

Camping was great - only the first night was rainy. Proof that I made it to Blue Canoe and, well, only had ice cream with my daughter.
