Delivery swag
Delivery swag
Do most people get swag (a.k.a. free stuff) when they take delivery of their MINIs? If so, what? I've seen free floor mats on threads, but doesn't the car come with floor mats? Are these floor mats nicer than the standard ones or are they rubber?
Does the swag depend on the MA, dealership, or how much money they were able to take from you (i.e. thanks sucker)?

I was "given" a hat, coffee mug and a cute little red scooter that was on the showroom floor. I really can't count the number of cars that I have purchased over the years and this may be the first time I didn't have a trade. So I went in, no trade, wanting a car is high demand, to a dealer I've never bought from and you guessed it -- for the first time ever I paid full MSRP! So, $130.00 worth of stuff that the dealer might have paid $50.00 for isn't exactly swag. But I did drive off with a 2013 Roadster S and couldn't be happier!

Free stuff I got from dealerships that I have visited or recieved service in but, I ask for something that might have their dealership name on so that I can unofficially spnsor include hats, shirts, and stickers. Now on to the other free stuff I have recieved are a replacement set of rubber mats out of warranty and recieving a CF hood scoop.

Some swag comes from the dealer and depends on the dealer and/or MA. Other comes (or came?) from MINI USA...
For my 2010 I paid MSRP and got nothing extra from the dealer. My 2011 I got from another dealer in town (we have 3) at a great price (with a great deal on my 2010 trade in) and I got a MINI bulldog keychain (MSRP $16!).
For each car I got a little MINI "Adventure Field Kit" from MINI USA a couple of weeks or so later. Those contained some stickers and various other junk. One came with a mouse pad and the other came with a decent pen.
On my last service visit (to the dealer I bought the 2010 from, incidentally) I got a free t-shirt.
I don't recall getting anything significant when I bought my first MINI (used), on my 2nd MINI (used) I got 2 bulldogs, huge beach towel, travel mug, key chains, pens, reusable grocery bag, and a few other small goodies.
I will be taking delivery of my 3rd used MINI this weekend so I'll see what they currently are giving out at my dealer.

Ahh, that's what I was wondering. Some of the threads I came across were pre-2012.

Fixed all of it for you.
I'm waiting on delivery on my first MINI but the salesman at the dealership offered me a free ipod connection cable. I understand they run about $80 so I'm happy.
Also worth noting I ordered it through our credit union and got a decent discount. My MA has been really cool through the entire process. A nice surprise as another dealer I'd contacted first was rather cool when we talked.
I can't believe this has become a free commercial but if you live in Southern California, ask for Lance at South Bay MINI.
Ted.

Trying to remember everything I got when I bought my MINI (2010), I know I got a keychain, a travel mug and the winter (rubber) floor mats. I think I got a couple of gift cards to local (to the dealer) restaurants that never got used. And there was the Adventure Kit MINIUSA sends out.
I've never gotten swag from a service visit though, but then I've only had one service that wasn't covered under the maintenance program.

As for swag; I got some Cooper S chewing gum, a couple of keychains, MINI USA Olympic shirts, a few issues of MINI magazine, a manual button, and a manual sticker. My MA said the Adventuring Kit should be sent out within a month or two so apparently they do still send those as well.
I wasn't expecting to get any swag so I'm definitely happy with the stuff I got; for me the car was all the swag I needed.
I got a keychain, the cable kind, and then the kit that came in the mail right about the time that the first payment was due. Since then, the dealer has given out some nice things when they hold club events there. Like a beautiful, tiny MINI wings lapel pin, shirts, water bottles, tool kits, tote bags, etc.
I took delivery mid-april and haven't received anything. Oh wait, there was a magazine in the mail. I got the floor mats and the iPhone cable but I think they're included anyway. I signed this advertising form and my salesperson said that I would receive something in the mail. It was the magazine. Whatever.
