I just called a local auto wrap business and they quoted me "a couple of hundred bucks" to warp just my two sunroofs - I told them I'd get back to them. I'm going to call around to see if I can find a better deal.

When we had our amino done, the shop said they won't tint any sunroofs, no matter what. Didn't want the liability!

The reflective tint will cause the glass to hold in more heat than normal and can crack the glass under certain conditions.

My son has owned a tint shop for over 15 years. He currently sells Llumar and SunTek film. Neither company will extend their warranty to tint done on a sunroof.

Bottom line is this, your car, your choice. And you assume the "liability" and cost if the glass cracks.

First I've ever heard of that.. I guess the heat y'all deal with down there, it may be more known. CAlifornia doesn't get that hot. In fact, most of us believe tinted windows keeps the heat OUT of the car.

Thanks for the education.

Yes, it gets pretty damn hot here. Unfortunately... And I am not a fan of the heat! Blah...

I use the zippee shade when it gets that hot. They actually work pretty well and take all of 20 seconds to put in place.

I have a checked roof wrap ( outside) with ceramic tint on the inside. The ceramic tint really reduces the heat factor. During the summer, I used the standard windshield sun reflector/block. I bought one at a local parts store and cut it down to fit the sunroof. Once you place it in place and slide the mini sunroof screen, you do even see it and from the outside , you cannot see the silver reflector due to the ceramic tint and roof wrap.

I wish I did not have a sunroof at all.

As been mentioned already - the Zippeeshade works real well to block the sun and reflect the heat. I bought one for my wife and she has not taken it off. She leaves the sunroof vented all summer and loves the thing.

My wife's Subaru Outback has a sunroof (came with the car, she fell in love with the color so we have it as well as "puddle lights" and a bunch of other silly options) that is only used when the grandkids are in the car.

With so many really cool things you can do with the roof of a MINI I'd never even consider a sunroof.

The 5% tint on my sunroof has made a BIG difference for me. I got Llumar CTX, which is their ceramic product. It's been 110+ degrees here in Vegas this summer with direct sun and have experienced zero issues. The reduced heat from the sun beating down from overhead has been a huge plus!!
