CD Player Issues

I just bought my 2006 Mini and I'm already having problems with the factory head unit. When I insert a CD right away the display screen reads "CD Check" then after a few moments it reads "CD Error" and spits out the CD. I tried a CD cleaner but same error occurred. Any idea??

They go bad, though it's not common. You could try pulling the unit and inspecting the reading laser, but the easy solution is just to get a used head unit. Plenty of them out there for $50-100.

Thanks, that's what I was afraid of. Do you know if I have to use a factory replacement or will an aftermarket unit work?

You can get an aftermarket unit but if you find a used one it will be probably be cheaper than getting a new aftermarket one...
