GPS Question

I apologize if this is posted in the wrong place.

I wasn't willing to fork over the $1,500 or so for the in-dash GPS. I see on the MiniUSA website that there is a cheaper option. It mounts over (?) the top-down gauge on the Roadster. It's about $400 dealer installed. Anyone have this? How does it look? I have no problem losing the gauge as it seems a bit silly to keep track of how much the top is down.

I have a Garmin GPS. I bought a mount from http://www.cravenspeed.com/ that attaches to the screws at the back of the Tachometer. It is adjustable up/down and as you can see it blocks nothing and is in plain sight and just below your line of sight when driving. And it pops off for use in my other car.

The Garmin at the dealer is really small. I just use a suction cup on the speedo with my $150 5" garmin. It's not like you use it all the time.

I took this advice from richardsperry and am doing the same thing with a Garmin nuvi1295 I just bought.

It locates perfectly, IMHO, easy to see and anything useful on the headunit / speedo still is.

Not only is the Garmin a good option, it could double as scan tool with the right Garmin and the purchase of a dongle that plugs into your scan port. It will display and monitor things like oil pressure, engine temp and such. Somewhere on here is a thread I remember reading.

Here is link to there site.http://api.viglink.com/api/click?for...13428027132142
