General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
I have a Miata (NA model, 1996 R package) in my garage; the Miata has advantages and disadvantages vs. my Mini coupé. It's easier to drive it near it's limits, and it's more forgiving than the Mini when those limits are exceeded. The Mini is more comfortable for a long drive, has more room inside, and offers better performance.
At the end of the day, I feel like my Miata is still more of a "driver's car" than my Mini, but my Mini is also a great "driver's car".
I'm 6' 2" and could not get into the Miata without seriously bending and twisting. Once in I was not at all comfortable. Not so with the Mini Roadster. For me, the choice was easy.
I might have had a Miata right now but I just don't fit. I'm 6'1" and with the seat all the way back and down as low as it'll go, I'm still looking straight at the metal frame at the top of the windshield. And forget it with the top up. Too bad, as the Miata I was thinking of buying from a friend was set up for track duty and was turbocharged to the tune of 250 hp. Yee-haw!
