Tail light queston

I want to replace my tail lights due to water being trapped inside one. I found these online: http://www.amazon.com/MINI-COOPER-BASE-CHROME-LIGHTS/dp/B007T0DU10/ref=au_pf_pfg_s?ie=UTF8&Model=Cooper|218&n=1568418 1&s=automotive&Make=Mini|32&Year=2004|2004&vehicle Type=automotive&newCar=1&carId=001 and would like to know if they will work for my 2004 R50. I have rear fog lights and I don’t know if that makes a difference in tail light choices.

Also while I’m here asking questions, Is it necessary to put in a new oil plug when you do an oil change? I had my oil change and later saw oil change kits that included a plug.

Love this site and all the info you guys share. I just bought my mini last month and I’m enjoying it more then I expected to. I wave at all the other mini’s. I don’t see very many (I live in the middle of Oregon in a small town) but yesterday I saw 3 in a row on their way to the cost and felt like they were part of my family driving by.

Welcome aboard, post some pics, and for the love of MINI always wave.

Yes the lights will work. Its always a good idea to change the plug each time. Its cheap insurance against it leaking there.

Change the plug Surely you mean change the crush washer, to which the answer would be yes.

Gen1 cars DO NOT HAVE A CRUSH WASHER, but a rubber lip built into the stock plug...
I change mine every couple of oil changes....

correct - the GEN1 uses a plastic washer built onto the plug.

IMO those who've experienced the 'stuck oil plug' problem have fallen prey to this plastic sticking. My recommendation is to replace the plug with a Fumoto valve. never need to replace the crush washer again . . .

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll definitely be getting a Fumoto valve before my next oil change. I wasn't aware of them. They should come on all cars.
