Unexpected expenses common in the first three years?

I'm considering a MC / MCS, but honestly have read on several forums how expensive MINIs are to maintain, which has me thinking it over carefully.

Suppose I do a 36 month lease... Does that mean all maintenance is covered? Or would, for example, a brake job (if needed) cost me?

Also, if I'm leasing, do they spare me the extended maintenance / extended warranty sales pitch?

The MINI looks like fun. I just do not want to get into a money pit, and I know BMW's are not cheap to run.

Honest feedback appreciated!

For me everything is "free" (included in price) for 5 years/100,000 EXCEPT tires.

So yes, brake jobs and all other maintenance is covered.

My understanding is that you would be covered by the maintenance plan for the entire 36 months unless you went over 36,000 miles. Pretty sure both pads and rotors would be covered by the maintenance plan. Any other brake issues should probably be covered by warranty unless it is something you bring upon yourself.

I can't imagine why the dealer would try to sell you an extended maintenance or warranty plan, so I'd guess you would be spared listening to their pitch.

I just took mine in for some service and they replaced the pads for free. I have ~25k miles on it. They also replaced both visors which had apparently broke - also at no cost.
