Mini Rocketman

Now this is what I'd like to see as an option for my next Mini - a return to the small Mini of old!!

Makes sense if they're going to be going with that new 3 cylinder engine they were talking about a while back

I would not be surprised either way on the Rocketman as there are ample rumors to indicate it moving forward as there are that the project has been nixed. Time will tell. I think it would be an interesting development for MINI, but the city car/micro car segment seem so volatile at the moment, I don't blame them for holding off a bit.

I like my R56 just fine but I'd seriously consider a Rocketman (if they ditch the quirky taillights).

I love my R53 but miss my classic - I said I'd never sell the R53, because I wouldn't buy the current generation, and detest the spy shots of the 3rd generation, but if a smaller one came out I'd be very tempted

I was ready to buy a new R53 (like it better than my R56)but there was no dealer within 300mi. By the time we got a dealer (60 mi away) the R53 was history and I settled for the R56.

I love everything about the Rockman! I'd buy it in a heart beat. Can they make a JCW Rocketman S GP? It'll be a super go-kart.

I hope they make it. I would consider buying it, but I would want to see it in person.....

I would be in. I like the idea of the car being closer to the size of the original. The handling should be super!

What is the best model with maximum specs if you are planning to have one?

I'm not sure where I see the Rocketman going at this point. It seems to me that MINI just has to build it regardless...if only because it is "mini." I mean, how could they not if the very identity of the brand is the small car? Lately MINI seems to have been preoccupied with sales and profitability, and that's fine, but other makers have beat them to the punch on small cars because they were willing to go there, even if MINI (sadly) was not. So, what I am saying is that MINI may have to build the Rocketman if only to protect their niche and their identity, regardless of units sold. It may well be worth it in the long run. For a some time MINI led us to believe that they were the final word in small, safe, premium cars, but it has been shown that this is not the case. MINI needs to step up and take the lead once more.

I like the idea of a smaller MINI being available, and could maybe see owning one at some point after I no longer need to fit kids in the car. If nothing else it would be nice to compete more directly with the Fiat 500, which makes my car look huge.

That said, the Rocketman concept is about the ugliest thing I've seen on four wheels since the Pontiac Aztek. It's bad enough that I'd have to think twice about buying another MINI vs another brand where I could visit forums related to the car without having to run across pictures of the Rocketman.

I also like the idea in general, even if there were some pretty odd features on the Rocketman concept car itself. To me the car generally just looked like a MINI, although a bit smaller. I would love to see a shorter bonnet than what I've seen.
