May 4th be with you

This past Friday my Mini saved my son and my lives . We were on our way to work at 6:15 am . When a deer was dropped from the sky onto my Mini. Like a scene from Tommy Boy . Mini's are built tuff. We owe our lives to the quality built Mini.

Not sure , There is not much damage to the car mechanically ok. Just lost side view mirror and some small dents on fender obviously windshield . But alot of blood , The deer was cut in half by the door/windshield pillar , it leaped over a car in the fast lane and landed on us in center lane hitting the pillar then the windshield. Was lucky that the deer was cut in half ,died instantly or would of kicked the $#it out of us . The owner of the auto body place said he would do his best to get insurance company to total it . Will hopefully know later this week. It is a lot of blood , in the rain the car was leaking blood everywhere. ashtrays cup holder all crevices collected all the pooling blood. Had to pull the deer out with some help from tow truck driver . My catch phrase this weekend is WTF and Holy S#it .

Ugh. On the other hand, if they don't total it, you'll have to rename the car "Vampire". :P

Glad you and your son are ok. This may sound odd, but it's rather fortunate that the deer hit your car at the angle he did and went through the windshield. I've seen deer that size totally crush cars at hiway speeds. Hope your MINI (or its replacement) is back on the road soon.

Unreal, glad everyone is OK. On the brightside it'll be a great cocktail story to tell for years to come.

That is some insane stuff!

Don't you just wish there was a camera pointed at your face when this happened? That way you can replay it in slow motion over and over?

That's the kind of thing nightmares are made of!

Glad you both are OK. I have seen insurance companies go both ways with claims involving biological contamination. Your body shop needs to write down everything the blood touched in the car as needing REPLACED in the estimate, and they have a better chance of totaling the car, if that is what you want.

You and your son owe your lives / safety to luck more than MINI build quality...

Glad you're ok and not injured.

Now for the car... I'd buy that as a used car in a New York min... What are the odds of hitting another deer? Garp would approve... ;-)

I agree my son and I are the Luckiest ,unlucky guys walking the earth today.
Being a MINI forum I had to give props to my MINI , for build quality.
But all in all the way the deer hit the car was conceivably the only way we could have survived . Was able to maintain my lane while trying to get to shoulder of road . If the deer hit any where else on car I would have been spinning around like a pin ball machine bouncing off the other cars around me. Our Guardian angels were looking out for us that is for sure.

Glad you are okay...what a scary thing to happen to you. Hopefully the car does get "totaled" for the insurance because there is no way of getting all the blood out of there.

Good god those pics are gruesome. I think the first one would have been enough for me to get the idea. I hope I can sleep tonight.

Yes the car was totaled , do to the amount of blood and no guarantee they could get it all out .
My daughter came home from college that same weekend , I promised her months ago we would look at buying her a used car . In my rental car . We went out looking for a car for her , and the first used car lot we went to was a 2007 JCW . Same color as my totaled justa . I thought it was a sign. 3 days later I bought it with the insurance money . I think I did ok .

I removed the stripes , so it looks like my 08
