A little range competition!!

Ok...3 days ago I drove to New Orleans from NE Mississippi. On the way back I drove up the Natchez Trace Parkway. Its about 400 or so miles long and a max speed of 50 mph for those of you who have never driven it. I decided I was going to do what I could to hypermile my 04 MCS. I only drove about 120 miles at 50 MPH with cruise on to get my reading. I pulled off at a gas station to fill up and I took pic of my range reading (DTE). I had 575 miles to empty. I want to see what others have gotten and to get a little competition going to see what is the largest number someone can snap a picture of.

I chose Range because its the simplest way to verify without some other mix of stats. I should say, that when I filled up I had a combination of miles driven and range that added to 617 miles total but when I filled up it only gave me a reading of 575. So I decided rather than try to decipher each persons combinations of mileage we could just use the highest reading on there range readout. I babied my car every step of the way and the avg miles per gallon read 46.2. I realize that number isn't always correct and variations between cars are always present but I thought a basic non-official competition would be fun.

There's a little space between the 5 and the 7. Are you sure the LED for the decimal isn't burned out?

Best I've ever gotten is around 380. Of course I drive for the fun of it and when people ask about the milage I just grin great big and say 'I don't care'.

I'll have to take a picture when I fill up next week. DTE usually starts out over 600 for me. For a while, the trip odometer (reset at fill) + DTE were adding up to just over 700 miles, but it's down to 680 or so at this point.

If you want your MINI completely embarrassed, do the same drive in a Prius...

Yes you car getting good mileage, but so what. I'm with Sammy Hagar on this, I can't drive 55.... And my car is still averaging 31.8 LIFETIME.... (I never reset it...)

...But then I'd be in a Prius! And those don't corner anywhere as nicely as the MINI does. And they don't have a manual transmission.

There is always a car that is better at something than yours. For instance, a Viper would laugh at your car in a quarter-mile. A Lotus would eat it up around a track. Doesn't make it any less of a car, or you any less of a driver.

Got 582 miles from this tank. The gas gauge went to two red carrots at about 570. I was going past one of the gas stations I like, so I stopped in and filled 'im up. DTE was showing about 70-80 miles to go, but having the car "ding" at me every time I start it does get a little old.

...Which reminds me, I need to get some windshield washer fluid...
