Careful where you buy the unit. Some can be found very cheap on the grey market but buying form the manufacturer or from an authorized dealer will bode well for warranty. I have had to send in my RX65 before as the FL sun cooks them every year or two.

I now have a RX65 in each MINI and love them for their effectiveness and clean looks over the V1. I routinely pick up state troopers 8-10 miles away if they are sitting int he middle of the road and checking randomly or have radar on constantly.

Thanks guys, I know the V1 is highly rated, but have narrowed my wish list to escort 9500 or 8500, beltronic sti, or GX56.
Looking for an online source for purchase, thanks

Even the Justa picks up speed so easily I am considering a detector. Not sure if Colorado uses radar or laser or both. Anyone know? Is there a detector for both? Thanks.

Most if not all detectors now handle both radar and laser. Radar is the most common enforcement option out there as laser requires a more direct angle and a shorter distance than radar. You can sometimes see an officer perpendicular to the road while he's using a laser pointing it out his window.

Radar & Laser detectors are fantastic! I've been enjoying one for quite some time and will continue to have one. However, that doesn't mean your job is over and its all the detectors responsibility. Laser and officers who selectively use radar can throw a wrench into your plan so you will still need to use your eyes and caution.

Sounds like an oxymoron
If you want quality, you usually have to pay for it.

Thanks. I didn't what was out there. I tend to drive a little fast. Usually it was 5 to 10 over most of the time in my Accent. With Comet I seem to be in 10 - 15 range more often. Not good for the wallet.

Even stranger....the same companies that make the detectors make the radar/lazer guns...
With any radar detector, buy the best you can afford...and quality costs money...and many grey market units may be stolen, thus you cannot send them off to get yearly tuneups, software updates, or warrenty work....a poor qiality detector is worse than no detector imo.
since most detector companies use direct to consumer sames model with limited authrozed retail channels, the prices for good units are pretty uniform....
Cheap, worthless units packed in plastic are a different story, but for the $350+ quality units, most pricing is similar...kinda like apple products or xboxes....
