This sounds like a great approach hopefully they can get the ball rolling for you. I'm pretty sure if it is considered abandoned they must leave a certain # of notices and make attenpts to contact the owner before they can tow it (usually takes a few weeks I believe), but since he lives there maybe it will be enough to get him to move the car.

Honestly, that's fine by me. If they just leave a notice and contact him telling him to move it, and he does, that's great. I just want it taken care of.

The officer just showed up. He looked at the car, walked around it, then left. Boo.

They may tag it as abandoned (bright orange sticker). If another officer checks it out in the future (usually a few week grace period) they may tow it as an abandoned vehicle.

The officer came back, and he's spending a good amount of time there now.

Edit: He's buzzing the owner of the car, looks like they aren't home though.

Edit 2: Turns out he was home, the officer served him some kind of notice, looked like a ticket. Not sure if he is going to move it because I don't even know if the car runs.

I gather that the plates/tags were expired? If so the ticket may be for expired plates. Curious, assuming they are expired, how expired are they?

Good question. Well the sticker on his car said the inspection was due 6 months ago. NJ plates don't have stickers that show registration, so I couldn't tell. The officer must have ran his plates and pulled up all of his information.

Good news is that his car is now moved, and the visitor spot is now open to all.

Here's the kicker: he actually has two assigned spots apparently, because he moved the Focus into an assigned spot that I know is his, and then drove away in some Mazda SUV from another assigned spot. So he has two assigned spots AND used the visitor spot. I could KO him haha.

The guy sounds totally inconsiderate and rude. Glad it was moved. Space hogs annoy me.

Dude you need a little chivalry here. Not to mention putting her safety first!

How come your brain doesn't have you parking in the visitor spot down the hill - and your significant other in your spot!

I have been married 30 years and I park outside, she gets the garage. I would never dream of making her walk 20 minutes up a hill at midnight, not even once.
