So gm (government motors), which us taxpays hold a huge stake in, is trying help out another company?! Sounds like they need ro pay off the us taxpayers before trying to cut a deal...
The improvished trying to help the broke....this cannot end nice.
Even if GM does this, I highly doubt it will effect MINI. Because BMW is not all of a sudden gonna go "oh look we have access to GM engines" and then start putting them in their cars. Hopefully what will happen is the Prince engine gets thrown into some small sporty American cars and the aftermarket support goes up and we have more support for this engine.

I suppose that would help lower costs and help withsupport and parts. My concern is if Prince engines and parts are produced by GM and possible lower quality.
I doubt that will happen. If it does I still highly doubt that they will make their way into MINIs mostly because the deal between PSA/BMW is for PSA to make the engines not GM. A lot of legal and paper work would have to be done before GM started making the engines.

That tidbit makes me feel better. Hadn't thought far enough about the actual contracts. Thanks.

Engine reliability ratings would go up. And this is bad how? I would love to have a MINI with a 270 HP 2.0 Turbo. I had a Saturn Sky Turbo. 320 HP with a tune.
