R56 R57 climate & sport seat questions

I am considering Justa Clubbie for a new car to do sales calls throughout the northeast. I have checked out a few cars so far and I have not yet been able to come to terms on a pano equipped Clubbie. It has the cold weather, auto climate, sport steering and 16s.

My eyes found an 09 without the Auto climate and I am looking for opinions on that sysytem. My wife's Outlander has auto climate which works well when on heat mode but truly blows for AC during the warm months.

This other clubbie also has the sport seats but no roof. Since this will be a mid-long distance car, what does the sport seat offer over the base seat? ?

I have the sport seats in my R56 Hatch, and let me tell you they are nice for long rides. I also have the Cold Weather pack on mine so they are really nice here in NW PA when the weather gets cold. The wife has a '12 Accord and we took a long drive in that, she looked at me and said "We aren't taking this thing on long trips again. These seats suck compared to your Sport Seats!" They were still comfortable on the 9.5 hour drive last year to the British Invasion. Drove the car from Erie, PA to Stowe, VT and they were still comfortable. I won't get a MINI without them now!

I have auto climate in the BMW, but in the Mini you don't really need it, the cabin space is small enough. I usually leave the blower setting on 1 and the temp **** in the middle, and vents on feet/windshield and its fine for most days. Dont think the auto system is worth the extra cash, heated seats on the other hand...

I have both on my '09 Conv. and would never buy one without either. I have driven as many as 1100 miles at one stretch in the sport seats and was still relatively comfortable. Without the automatic temperature setting, you are constantly adjusting the controls. I am seriously considering trading my Sienna simply to add climate control.

Auto climate control, yep I've got it, it works well.

Sport seats? Yep they are nice. and you can add the lumbar support without too much cost or difficulty if you want to. With cloth seats the seat heaters are almost too hot. No waiting for toasted buns...lol

If you can, skip the sunroof. It's heavy, loud when open, lets in tons of heat, it will eventually rattle or break. I should have just skipped checking that box when I ordered mine... I went and had 5% limo tint put on it after living with a zippy shade for about the first 1 1/2 years, but I still never use it. Never again...

Get the xenon lights. Period! People that say they don't like them, or they are worth it, are idiots.

While the auto climate in my R50 worked great....the system in my '08 MCS just doesn't cut it. I'm always fiddling with it trying to get comfortable...especially in cold weather. While the system in the old car would manage the temp without you noticing it was doing anything, I am constantly aware that this one in my newer car is constantly switching vents and adjusting.....my feet are cold, then warm, then my hands get cold, then it switches and it's blowing at my face, etc.....I find it very annoying.

My next MINI will not have auto climate.....I can tap the blower and temp up and down just fine by myself....and i'm doing it now anyway.

So I say if you find a car that you like without it, don't fret. You're not missing much.

My 08 MCS has both options, and they seem fine. I like the seats, and the heaters are nice. The padding is quite firm, but it fits me very well and is comfortable. I have not had the car in the summer, but for the winter the auto heating works well, and I am pretty sensitive to that stuff.

When I was looking, many cars had the premium package, which included the sunroof and auto climate together. I didn't see too many with one and not the other. My sunroof does not rattle yet.

Good luck.

Mike
