Is R53 vs R56 still one-sided?

Whenever there is change some people will like it and some wont and I feel that the R53 vs R56 debate was never one sided.
I just came from Jeep World myself and Wrangler debates are really funny.

I have a v6 Mustang with a Roots Style blower on it, and I've always gotten "Why not buy a GT". I'm used to car controversy.

I just started to consider buying a MINI and honestly when I think of a MINI i picture an R53. I didn't even notice all the new changes.

The MINI is marketed as premium and fun, and if it is to be a premium car it should grow and improve! I personally like both equally, having never owned either.
