Ripoff ,scams, and dishonesty on mini fog lights
Hi every, some time last year I went to a South Carolina dealer located in Greenville. Century BMW to get the fog light program to the mother board. I meet up with Julian P. loue, who quoted me $65.00.if they were install the if they install them was some what over $165.00.
Well about two hours in the shop I get to meet Brent J. Prevatte who now tells me the they are trouble shooting the there is a problem. So they ask me if they should continue working on it. I did said yeah so two hours later. I get news the mother board was "BAD" the that was why they could not get the fog light to come on. And at the same time the quote to get it fix was $600.00+.
At these time how I the @&@$$ world no where do I get that kind of cash.
Just so you all know, I did the fog light installation by the BMW INSTRUCTION ( I still have the pages if any one needs copy's of them! Anywho I could not get the mother board done that day. So I ask for my car back. The trouble shooting was going to cost me over $450.00. I to Julian no I can paid that amount and it took him a few try's to get down to $200.00 or so. But yet I am now going home like I just came out of the doctor with a rector exams done and the scope was the Santa Ana train from Cali to New York.
Ok eneogh so I call my Florida dealer told them the story, few month later I went there just to find out the was not a Thing wrong with it. Oh and there is more they help them self with all the inside parts the make the switches work out of the spare switch box I had with the instruction in my front seat.
People ask other dealer for the quote before you go to Century BMW, I rather drive 16 long hours then two hours and have dehonest, inconseder, selfish and every thing I could put in here with offending the reader.
Thank you and please make the right choice drive the other way before this happend to you

Guys excuse my writing there is a lot of things wrong with this but I was trying to be as closed to the point as possible. If any of you have any questions about it including the owner the dealer( you can call me on my cell. You got my #), feel free to contact me here. Or
I really can't decipher everything you're saying there, it was hard to follow, but I'll try my best.
First thing you, and people in general, need to understand that just because it's a BMW or MINI dealership instead of "Joe Shmoe's Cars" doesn't make it a reputable dealership. If you have enough up front financial backing you can have your own dealership. I always try to research a dealership before I visit them. There are plenty of five star MINI/BMW dealerships out there but there are also numerous one star locations as well.
Secondly, whenever I have any work done on my car (or home) I always require, in writing, a detailed work order. Sure it can be tedious at times, but it also ensures you get the correct work done. Case and point, I had a plumber fix a pipe and when he was done tried to tack on some additional charges. I informed him that I was only paying what he initially invoiced me, and any other work he did I would not pay for as he didn't request a change order. He took me to small claims court, and as you can probably guess, lost.
With cars, same deal, I get a copy of the work order signed before I allow them to even put a wrench to a bolt. In your case, a signed work order would ensure that any damage done related to the install of your fog lights (in this case, damaging the motherboard) would be fixed by the dealership out of their pocket. Unless it was a preexisting condition they need to be responsible for any damage they cause.

Thank you for your reply, as you all know we live and learn with mistakes. In my case and the point of it was. There was not problem at all with the mother board, he made that up just so he could charge me more labor and for parts. As I chat with a dealer mechanic at a mini dealer. He mention this> the tech who work on your car does not like went the owner do work on there car because it takes money from his pocket. And also said if you mother board was bad you could not trim any of your lights and or some o the other component the are tap in to that moder board like door lock Ann more. I do have record of what was done to my car at the Greenville dealer and what they did at the Florida dealer who confirm the the was not a thing wrong with any of my wire harness or the mother board. And to add to this I am handy in many way. This all start it because I can't code the mother board to work the factory or fog lights witch I install using the dealer diagram and install guide.
Right now I was quote at Charlotte dealer about $600.00 just to change the power steering hoses( intake n return). That I be posting soon to help other save so $$$$$ parts only cust me $104.00 with shipping. Again thank you for reading and lisenting to my fostration hope this help other to make the right choice.

To qualify to purchase, the dealer has to have demonstrated experience successfully operating a dealership and having satisfactory Customer Satisfaction Index results. On an ongoing basis, a dealership must produce satisfied customer results or suffer a stiff financial penalty and eventually termination. It is not nearly as simple as it may seem to the uninformed.

While I would agree with your premise that there are "good" and "better" BMW and MINI dealerships, you are wrong about enough money will get you one. There are far more investment dollars chasing them than available points and the criteria are far more strict than simply monetary.

Guys thank you to thoses the spend some time reading these blog. Just so you all know, I use to get emails twice a week from Greenville mini in South Carolina. They offered many deals on oil changes and all the other stuff they do. But not yet to hear from them about what they did to me. And I am so sure mini cooper or BMW Coorporate office told them about my complain.
Any one from that area should stay out of that place. I would not even let them add windshield wiper fluid to my car. Greenville mini out of South Carolina, will not see my car again. And I make a issue to let every one in the area know how they did me wrong.
