If you had to replace your MINI with an Asian (super reliable) car, what would it be?
I didn't say Mazdas weren't "good cars", Dude.
My best friend loves and swears by his Mazdas. He has had an RX7, a Miata, & an RX8. He loves the rotary engine in the RX cars but they have always giving him problems. Other friends and acquaintances have had issues with Mazdas also.
So my point is that in my experience they have as many or more issues than average.

My Mini is a summer car for the most part. I drive a 1994 Toyota 4 Runner Pickup during the winters. Given a choice I would also like to have a Sub WRX for the all wheel drive 200 hp option.
Asking this question is like walking into Cheers and asking whats the best been in the bar.
My 2cents would be a Scion or some of the Toyota's. ( like small? check out the new iQ ) love our xB. And equally love our FJ.
As someone stated earlier, any car maker will have some issues. I guess it would have to be looked at as # of failures per model. I can say from experience that... Our 06 GP with 35k miles on it ( one of 7 MINIs we have owned) has been in the shop for repairs ( mostly minor, except for clutch, and water pump 6 trips total ) more then our other cars collectively :
05 Scion xB --> 76k miles , trips to shop = 0 . still on all orig parts
07 Toyota FJ4x4 --> 78Kmiles , trips to shop =0 ( and yes, it is 4wheeled often ) all orig ( except some offroad mods)
86 Toyota 4Runner --> 187k miles trips to shop = 3 ( 1 clutch, 1 set front brakes, 1 set rear brakes and throttle sensor ) 1500.00 total over 13 years I had owned it.
just sayn

I test drove a Hyundai Genesis Coupe before deciding on my MINI. It was a great car, TONS of power, packed woth technology and priced about the same as a well equiped MCS but without Connect and Nav (the Hyundai had nav for a lower price that the MCS). If I hadn't been coming out of a BMW and had that handling to compare it to I might well have bought it instead of the MINI. But, when I drove the MINI it felt like the BMW and that sold me.
