So i changed oil for the first time today!

I bought my Mini Convertible in April of 2011. I have about 9500 miles on it. I called the dealer today to schedule an oil change. They said wait until 15,000 miles or until I've owned the car for 1 year. Does that sound right? Also, I had my tires rotated at 5,000. When should I rotate them again? Dealer charges $90 to rotate and balance...

So i stopped by orlando mini andy guess an oil change is only $51. So basically it is about what i paid for oil and a filter. So i guess i should just go there for now on. Also they will wash my car and what not. At least i know how to change it incase of emergency. Like a ninja attack and I'm out of oil or something.

Yea, the odd part is their requirement shows every 10K and at least once a year. I'll have the shop do the 10K's and I'll do my own on the 5's.

Congrats on the oil change! I just crawled under my mini a few days ago to change it and foubd that my drain plug had been rounded off at the shop that tuned and oil changed it for me. I had my usual mechanic rip the bad bolt out and replace it with a new one. Can't wait to do the next one myself
