Cold-start issues...
...I just don't think I have any. It has been up and down from -35°C here for the last few days, and my 2005 R53 hasn't so much as whimpered about being started up and driven away. I've put the battery tender on it for the coldest nights - still on the original battery, so far to no ill effects - and I'm not sure even the tender does anything that needs doing. Running factory BMW coolant (70/30) and 5W-30 Castrol Edge full synthetic. No block heater, and no heated (or even powered!) garage.
I overheated my E34 535i this morning, I think because somewhere in the system, the coolant froze. (All the belts are intact, and a few hours after the fact the motor looks to be ticking over as usual...for a 25-year-old, 300k km motor.) Had it towed out to my "shop in the country" to have a look at it later. But the Mini just keeps on keeping on... Anyone else have a Cooper that runs perfectly normally at extremely, inhumanely cold temperatures? I'm not complaining, nor surprised, I guess. I'm thrilled, in fact!
