Could this extend to the non-Turbo models, or is the underhood temps not high enough to cause issues in those cars?

My waterpump crapped out 2,000 miles after I bought my MC, but it's been fine with my JCW.

So, just keep an eye out for things, but don't expect any recall notices yet (I have a 2012 Cooper, btw).

Does anyone know why Mini excluded the 2012 turbo models?

Did Mini change aux fuel pump circuit board suppliers or something similar?

If they fixed the problem on the 2012's before production, it seems odd that they have been building 2012's for about 6 months or so and they just came out with this recall now. That would mean that they knew about the problem and the solution since they started building 2012's. Am I missing something here?

That's what I was wondering.

My Countryman is a 2012 model but it had a build date in August of 2011. If they are announcing a recall now, how were the 2012's immune to this problem.

It doesn't give me much confidence that my mini won't burst into flames in my garage. I also don't want to leave my new Mini outside all of the time as I live at 8000 feet and typically get 6 feet plus of snow each winter.

This is a pump which runs after shutdown to cool the turbo, so no, only turbo's have them ...
